GIS and Remote Sensing Officer

The GIS and Remote Sensing Officer will provide technical leadership in geospatial mapping, remote sensing analysis, and the development of a GIS-based data platform. This role is crucial for supporting planning, monitoring, and decision-making processes within the Office of the Prime Minister's NUSAF IV project. The officer will work closely with the Disaster Risk Management Specialist to ensure accurate and timely geospatial data is available for disaster risk management and other related activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing GIS solutions, analyzing remote sensing data to predict and monitor drought and flood patterns, and maintaining a robust GIS database. This position requires a strong background in GIS and remote sensing technologies, with a focus on environmental management and disaster risk reduction.

• Design and implement GIS-based solutions for data collection, analysis, and visualization.
• Conduct remote sensing analysis to monitor and predict drought and flood conditions.
• Develop and maintain a GIS database to support planning and decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate GIS data into disaster risk management strategies.
• Provide technical training and support to staff on GIS and remote sensing tools.
• Prepare reports and presentations on GIS findings and recommendations.
• Ensure data accuracy and integrity within the GIS platform.
• Stay updated on advancements in GIS and remote sensing technologies.

• Honours Degree in Environmental Management or Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Meteorology.
• Master's Degree in GIS required.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in GIS and Remote Sensing, particularly in drought and flood models.
